Prior to connecting to YOS, Gina, 16, had signs of a teen who had an alcohol-abuse problem and depression. After the death of her father from COVID-19, Gina had become noticeably withdrawn from both her family and friends and stopped many of the activities she previously enjoyed. Gina was moody and had become pessimistic in her outlook toward life and complained of feeling worthless.
YOS believed in Gina and helped her to believe in herself. By working with her YOS therapist, Gina found a positive outlet to turn to when issues arise. Now, when the teen has a problem or is feeling depressed, she thinks about the advice her counselor gave her: "Don't give up until you try everything."

The police department in Sharonville, Ohio, was one of the agencies that received those requests. Its police chief, Steve Vanover, told Reuters on Wednesday that Kentucky officials had related to them the teen's harrowing account of how he escaped his kidnappers. 041b061a72
